What is Purple Flag?

Purple Flag for Dementia Care™ is an accreditation program developed to recognize excellence and drive continuous improvement in the quality of services delivered by providers and their staffs who care for individuals living with Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias. Purple Flag for Dementia Care™ is a collaboration between the Institute for Senior Living Education (ISLE), the Connecticut Assisted Living Association (CALA) and the Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter.  Upon accreditation, providers receive the distinctive purple flag to fly proudly at their provider settings.

Our Goals

The goal of the Purple Flag for Dementia Care™ program is to achieve a higher quality of life for persons with dementia and shall be accomplished through:

Enhanced staff education in dementia and dementia care

Demonstration of a commitment to best practices

Self-attestation to the statements of quality contained in the 2018 Alzheimer’s Association Dementia Care Practice Recommendations

The Faces Behind Our Success

Recognition and accreditation with the Purple Flag for Dementia Care™ program shall qualify a provider for participation with a highly visible branding campaign informing consumers and related constituencies of the provider’s commitment to best practices. ISLE began accepting the first applications for participation with the Purple Flag for Dementia Care™ program in the Summer of 2019.
