Purple Flag Communities Offer Person-Centered Memory Care

At Purple Flag for Dementia Care™, we know and understand the difficulty in finding the right senior living setting for your loved one needing nurturing, person-centered care for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia-related issues. In 2023, there were more than 800,000 residents living in assisted living communities in the U.S. Over 40 percent of residents in residential communities, including Assisted Living, are living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. The Purple Flag program was created in 2019 to serve both those living with dementia in residential settings such as traditional Assisted Living, and those who require a secure setting with a higher quality of life that is inclusive to all seniors. It is our goal to provide the very best person-centered dementia care available.

We feel that providers who demonstrate conformance with our challenging accreditation requirements make a profound difference in both the quality of care, and the quality of life for your loved ones and your families. In fact, there are 60 different practice standards that senior care providers need to meet to become a  Purple Flag for Dementia Care™ accredited community.

Our Senior Living Communities are Dedicated to Memory Care Residents

Our accredited communities’ compassionate staff undergo training in person-centered memory care best practices that exceeds what is required, working individually with residents so each person receives the care they need and deserve. Purple Flag accredited communities provide a progressive care plan which also includes family interaction and educational support for a better understanding of the effect dementia has on you and your family. Our communities are more than just memory care… they are dedicated to making residents feel safe in a comfortable environment by treating every individual with the respect they deserve and continually striving to improve residents’ quality of life.

We don’t take our accreditation process lightly and we invented the groundbreaking measures necessary for senior living communities to augment their resources and maximize resident independence and dignity. With 31 Purple Flag accredited communities and counting, our accreditation program continues to be widely adopted by the industry to assist senior care providers in helping those with memory loss that affects so many families.
