Waterstone on High Ridge, an assisted living and memory support community managed by EPOCH Senior Living, has earned Purple Flag for Dementia Care™ accreditation!
Purple Flag for Dementia Care™ standards assess an organization’s ability to provide collaborative care in a safe, functional, and respectful environment to help ensure not only quality of care but quality of life. Accredited communities have demonstrated adherence to 60 standards of care and extensive training practices for the care of individuals living with dementia, and have embraced and implemented a person-centered plan for all residents.
The community held a flag-raising ceremony on June 14th, 2023, to commemorate the achievement. In attendance were Laurie Gerber, Chairperson of EPOCH, Joanna Cormac-Burt, Chief Operation Officer of EPOCH, Christopher Carter, President of Connecticut Assisted Living Association (CALA) as well as the community’s staff, dozens of residents, family members and local eldercare professionals. A representative from the Stamford Chamber of Commerce was also in attendance and offered brief remarks for the momentous occasion.
“We’re so happy to welcome Waterstone on High Ridge as the first EPOCH community to achieve Purple Flag for Dementia Care™ Accreditation,” said Carter. “Wendy Kaufman and her team earned Purple Flag accreditation through outstanding commitment and striving for excellence in the field of memory care. We can’t wait to see what Waterstone on High Ridge achieves moving forward.”
Waterstone on High Ridge is the latest organization to receive Purple Flag accreditation. Their sister communities, Bridges by EPOCH at Trumbull and Bridges by EPOCH at Norwalk, will be awarded Purple Flag for Dementia Care accreditation on June 22nd and June 26th, respectively.
