Purple Flag Excellence in Dementia Care™ Accredits First Homecare Provider in Nation – Pansy Homecare

OLD LYME, Conn., Dec. 15, 2025 — Purple Flag Excellence in Dementia Care™ has awarded its first-ever accreditation to a home care provider, Pansy Homecare, a family-owned home health care provider serving Hartford County, Connecticut.

Pansy Homecare earned accreditation by demonstrating full alignment with Purple Flag’s 10 Best Practice Program Standards through a rigorous accreditation process. As a home care provider, Pansy will fly Purple Flag’s Home Care flag. Purple Flag also offers three additional accreditations to recognize excellence in dedicated Memory Care settings, Traditional Assisted Living and Hospice Care.

As the first traditional home care provider in the nation to earn Purple Flag accreditation, Pansy Homecare is helping pave the way as a leader in dementia care, reflecting the reality that much of the nation’s care for the millions of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias is provided in-home. As dementia progresses, the need for specialized, person-centered care within the home becomes increasingly critical, underscoring the importance of clear standards, training and accountability that elevate the quality of care where individuals are most comfortable and familiar.

Dementia diagnoses continue to climb. As of 2025, more than seven (7) million Americans age 65+ are living with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias, a number expected to rise sharply in the coming decades. For families navigating care decisions, accreditation has become a vital touchstone, offering reassurance that a provider has been rigorously evaluated, adheres to proven best practices and is equipped to deliver safe, compassionate and consistent support.

This distinction for Pansy Homecare reflects Purple Flag’s broader commitment to raising the bar across all care settings and ensuring that individuals with Alzheimer’s and other dementias can receive high-quality, evidence-based support wherever they call home.

“This milestone marks a major step forward for the Purple Flag portfolio of providers and carries a meaningful benefit to Pansy Homecare,” said Christopher Carter, Founder & CEO of Purple Flag Excellence in Dementia Care and President of the Connecticut Assisted Living Association. “As we expanded our accreditation to encompass four distinct senior-living care settings, this achievement aligns perfectly with Purple Flag’s growth vision. We welcome Pansy Homecare’s expertise as we work together to shape a new standard in senior caregiving.”

“Pansy Homecare is proud to be the first non-medical home care agency to earn Purple Flag Excellence in Dementia Care accreditation,” said Jonah C. Francis, CEO of Pansy Homecare. “Our mission is to be Connecticut’s leading authority in non-medical dementia care, and this accreditation reflects our unwavering commitment to improving the lives of our clients, their care partners, and every member of the care team. We strive to make that journey easier, more rewarding and far less stressful.”

Purple Flag for Dementia Care accreditation serves as a powerful assurance that a home care provider has the training, protocols and person-centered approach needed for individuals living with dementia. Unlike community-based care, home care requires caregivers to adapt best practices to diverse home environments and varying levels of need. With this accreditation, Purple Flag recognizes Pansy Homecare as a leading provider that not only meets these rigorous standards but embraces them as essential to delivering meaningful, consistent, and dignified dementia care.
