Purple Flag Excellence in Dementia Care™ is honored to once again be featured in McKnight’s Senior Living, one of the most prestigious senior living news publications in the country. Purple Flag was recently highlighted for its noteworthy partnership with the Oklahoma Senior Living Association (OKSLA) by Kimberly Bonvissuto.
In this feature, special attention is given to the organizations’ wide areas of care, including OKSLA’s representation of more than 75% of the state’s assisted living locations, and how OKSLA’s combined efforts with Purple Flag’s scope will help to provide the highest quality of care across the Oklahoma. It was also noted that initial conversations around Purple Flag and OKSLA partnering came as a result of Purple Flag’s collaboration with LifeSpan Network in Maryland, Delaware and Washington, DC announced in 2024. Earlier this year, Melissa Holland, OKSLA President and CEO Melissa Holland contacted Christopher Carter – Founder, CEO of Purple Flag and President of the Connecticut Assisted Living Association (CALA) to kickstart talks of a partnership.
Carter told McKnight’s Senior Living that since many OKSLA members are multi-state operators, communities in states outside of Oklahoma will also receive Purple Flag accreditation once approved, expanding both organizations’ high standards for senior living even further.
Carter, quoted in McKnight’s, said the collaboration with OKSLA will “elevate the region’s level of excellence and quality of life for senior living residents.”
“We look forward to working with OKSLA to further drive excellence in dementia care throughout both of our organizations,” Carter said. “Our combined resources provide an opportunity to set an even higher standard of excellence for Alzheimer’s and dementia care quality of life.” Most exciting of all, Carter revealed that Purple Flag is in “active discussions” with senior care leaders in five more states to enact similar partnerships, with hopes to provide Purple Flag’s cutting-edge quality standards to more and more states across the country.
